Mexican Pavers
Seal Systems has
applied two coats of Aqua Mix Floor Shine and Hardener to protect the
sealer and to enhance the shine on your tile. Two weeks after sealing,
you may wash floor and apply two more coats of Floor Shine and Hardener
if a higher shine is desired. From this point forward apply two coats
as needed to maintain desired level of shine. In any case apply two
coats at least every year.
Washing:
Use only Aqua Mix
Tile and Grout Cleaner (Do not use Aqua Mix Heavy Duty Tile and
Grout cleaner as it will damage the Floor Shine and Hardener!). Always
use a soft scrub brush attached to a broom type handle. A mop alone
will not clean grout joints or pits in the tile. Follow directions on
container. Be sure to rinse floor at least twice.
Waxing:
Use only Aqua Mix
Floor Shine and Hardener. Apply two thin coats with high
quality sponge mop. Floor must be totally clean before Floor Shine and
Hardener is applied.
Routine Cleaning:
Sweep, vacuum, dry
dust mop, or damp mop with warm water only do not add anything to
water.
Efflorescence and
Moisture:
Efflorescence is
the white powder often seen on bricks and some types of tile and in
grout. To date there is no product or process which will eliminate
efflorescence. The sealer and floor finish used on your tile will allow
vapor transmission. This means that moisture will be released from your
tile through evaporation. A sealer which does not breathe will not
allow the release of moisture, causing the sealer to blister or peel.
The sealer used on your tile will also allow efflorescence to pass up
through it so that the white powder can be removed by washing or
brushing after it has reached the surface. A sealer which does not
breathe will trap efflorescence beneath it, causing a build up which
can only be removed by stripping. Remember all products used on your
floor are of the breathing type. Use only the recommended cleaning and
waxing products. If you have any questions please call Seal Systems.
Natural Stone
The natural stone
your have purchased for your home or office is an investment that will
give you many years of beautiful service. Stone is a natural product
and simple care
Precautions:
Use coasters under
all glasses, particularly those containing alcohol or citrus juices.
Many common foods and drinks contain acids that will etch or dull the
stone surface. Do not place hot items directly on the stone surface.
Use trivets or mats under hot dishes and placemats under china,
ceramics, silver or other objects that can scratch the surface.
Cleaning
Procedures & Recommendations:
Dust mop interior
floors frequently using a clean non-treated dry dust mop. Sand, dirt and
grit do the most damage to natural stone surfaces due to their
abrasiveness. Mats or area rugs inside and outside an entrance will
help to minimize the sand, dirt and grit that will scratch the stone
floor. Be sure that the underside of the mat or rug is a non-slip
surface. Normally, it will take a person about eight steps on a floor
surface to remove sand or dirt from the bottom of their shoes. Do not
use vacuum cleaners that are worn. The metal or plastic attachments or
the wheels may scratch the surface. Clean stone surfaces with a few
drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap (available at hardware stores or
from your stone dealer) or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent and warm
water. Use a clean rag mop on floors and a soft cloth for other surfaces
for best results. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause
streaks. Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acids
on marble or limestone. Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing
with the soap solution and dry with a soft cloth. Change the rinse water
frequently. Do not use scouring powders or creams; these products
contain abrasives that may scratch the surface.
Bath and Other
Wet Areas:
In the bath or
other wet areas, using a squeegee after each use can minimize soap scum.
To remove soap scum, use a non-acidic soap scum remover or a solution of
ammonia and water (about 1/2 cup ammonia to a gallon of water). Frequent
or over-use of an ammonia solution may eventually dull the surface of
the stone.
